But... think about this first...
• Am I prepared to get two animals? Guinea pigs are herd animals, so I will not sell a guinea pig if it will be kept on it's own. If you cannot find a second animal you like out of my range, then I can help you get in touch with other local caviaries. You can always email me for help in your quest for another guinea pig!
• Am I prepared to spend the time needed for haircare when I choose coronets? The long hair demands of course some attention. Cutting the hair on a regular basis, so it doesn't trail on the ground, makes for easy caring. The hair on the back of the body should be cut regularly as this is where wood shavings are easily caught, and dags form. However, cutting the hair is not enough, brushing the hair should be a weekly routine, to prevent knots and tangles from forming and to remove knots that have already formed. Kids generally really enjoy brushing their pets!
Do you still want guinea pigs from Lothlórien? Great!
What can you expect from us?
• Young guinea pigs are kept with their mother for 4 weeks. On top of this their weight has to be at least 300 grams before they can leave Lothlórien. This way, we give them the best possible start in life.
• You will get your animals pedigree upon sale when it is showable and/or suitable for breeding purpose. If the guinea pig has any faults preventing it from showing and/or breeding, or when it is sold as ‘cuddlepiggie’, the possibility of the pedigree will be discussed first.
• The pups will be used to lots of attention from adults and children, so you will get them as tame as possible.
• When you buy a boar (a male guinea pig) you will get a discount. A boar is always €2.50 cheaper than a comparative sow (a female guinea pig)! On top of this, people who reserve a boar have first rights to pick and reserve sows, and will also have the right to reserve sows before those who have been longer on my waitinglist, but don't want boars. Boars are really just as nice and often quieter than sows, so why do I give this discount? Well, breeders always have more sows than boars in their stables, and many pet owners enjoy breeding at least once. Therefore, sows are generally more sought after.
Reservation Rules
Some unfortunate experiences in the past made me decide to start working with reservation-rules. This may look strict, but is sadly necessary.
From now on this is how I work: if you want to buy a guinea pig that is for sale, I will ask for half the price in advance* after we made our agreement on the reservation. Meanwhile, the guinea pig will be put on ‘pending sale’ for a week. Others may still show their interest in this week. If I don’t receive payment within a week, the guinea pig goes back to sale for the next interested. If I receive the payment, the reservation is definite.
Should you cancel after this point, you will not be refunded. Should I cancel you, you will be refunded.
Furthermore, I expect you to come and collect your guineas within 2 weeks after the right age and/or weight has been reached. Feel free to contact me if you have good reasons to collect them later and you want to get some agreement on the collectingdate.
* If wanted, you could always pay more than half in advance. Should the guinea pigs not be collected in person, but be transported by others or by transportservices, than the whole sum will be asked in advance.
